Several Impaired Drivers Charged by Caledon OPP This Past Weekend

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Caledon Detachment made several impaired driving arrests over the past weekend, October July 29 – 31, 2021, in the Town of Caledon.

On October 29, 2021 at approximately 10:50pm, officers responded to and intercepted a vehicle that was called in by other motorists as driving erratically on Highway 10 northbound near Old School Road. The driver of the vehicle was arrested by officers at the scene for impaired driving.

Kate JAMES, 46 years old, from Barrie was charged with the offenses of:

·        Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle

·        Drive with over 80mgs of Alcohol in Body

·        Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

On October 30, 2021 at approximately 12:10am, officers responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Kennedy Road and Dougall Avenue. One driver failed a roadside screening test at the scene and was arrested.

Bafour ASARE, 64 years old, from Toronto was charged with the offence of:

·        Drive with Over 80mgs of Alcohol in Body

On October 30, 2021, at approximately 10:20pm, an officer stopped a motor vehicle for speeding on Highway 10 near Highpoint Side Road. The driver failed a roadside screening test at the scene and was arrested.

Ian TOMBY, 41 years old, from Dundalk was charged with the offences of:

·        Drive with Over 80mgs of Alcohol

·        Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero

·        Speeding

On October 31, 2021 at approximately 3:50am, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 10 and Highpoint Side Road. One driver at the scene showed indications of having consumed alcohol. The driver refused to provide a sample for a roadside screening test.

Roger NELSON, 41 year old, from Shelburne was charged with the offence of:

·        Refuse Demand

Each driver immediately had their drivers licenses suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for 7 days.
