Caledon Creative Arts Festival needs community support

The Town of Caledon is seeking artists and performers for its creative arts festival, an annual free event.

The Caledon Creative Arts Festival takes place on Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Caledon East Community Complex. It will feature artist-led workshops, vendors and onstage performances.

More than 600 people attended last year’s event, which featured 40 vendor artists, four scheduled performers and eight artist-led workshops. Jason Schildroth, the town’s recreation and culture manager is hoping this year’s festival will be even bigger.

“We hope to grow those numbers this year as we partner once again with Caledon’s incredible creative talent,” he said in a release.

The town is putting out a call for onstage performers like musicians and dancers and artist vendors, such as visual artists, painters, sculptors, ceramic artists, illustrators, graphic designers, textile artists and authors.

“Caledon is home to incredible artists and performers. This is a great opportunity for local creatives to connect with residents, fellow artists and the community as a whole. We encourage you to get involved,” he added.

The event is now in its fourth year and is being called a celebration of all things art, performance, music and creativity and an event that “showcases Caledon’s vibrant and captivating arts and culture scene.”

Participating artists will have the opportunity to engage with residents and visitors, showcase upcoming workshops and sell pieces. Applications are being accepted until 4:30 p.m. June 14. Visit Caledon.ca/CultureDays for more information.
