Another weather warning issued for Caledon

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning applying to Caledon with conditions expected tonight and into Wednesday. Hazards include wind chill values near
-30 degrees Celsius.

“Extreme cold puts everyone at risk,” the national weather agency said in its warning. “Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter,” the warning states. Cold-related symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, and numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.”

Environment Canada is telling Caledon residents to cover up as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. The warning also says residents should keep emergency supplies in their vehicles such as extra blankets and jumper cables.

“If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside,” the warning adds.
