Update – Deadly House Fire on Canada Day

The Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is now in a position to identify the two victims of the deadly Canada Day house fire.

On July 1, 2022, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Caledon OPP, along with Caledon Fire, attended a house fire on Mountainview Road near Highway 9, in the Town of Caledon. When emergency crews arrived, the residence was found to be fully engulfed in flames. Nearby residents were evacuated with two people unaccounted for. The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal was contracted and attended the scene. Two victims were later recovered. The fire was not considered suspicious.

The deceased has been identified as Jenny Bullock, 35, of Caledon and her 6-year-old daughter, Ellie Wratten.

Caledon Fire urges all residents to test their smoke alarms and make an escape plan with two ways out. We encourage the public to contact us for any assistance needed regarding fire safety.”
