It’s the stuff dreams are made of. Especially if you happen to be a talented young vocalist or dancer looking for a chance to show what you can do.
Four young people, aged 10 to 17, in Caledon are preparing right now take to the stage at the CNE’s Rising Star Talent Competition. They’ve auditioned and made the cut. Determination and hard work, in addition to their talent, has provided them this opportunity to sparkle when that spotlight shines down on them later this month.
Just Sayin’ Caledon interviewed these rising stars. Let us tell you a bit about them.
Bianca Yong is a life-long Bolton resident. The 14-year old loves attending Mayfield Secondary School which she feels is “a wonderful school for the arts.”
Bianca’s mom owns Hit That Note Music Studio in Bolton so music is definitely a family passion. “I think I first started vocal lessons around age four” she recalls “and by age five I already knew that I really wanted to sing.”
As she grew, watching competitions on TV talent shows fuelled that desire. She continued to practise diligently “at least twice a week for an hour and a half”. Outside of school hours Bianca also sings with a local band.
The talented teenager was very excited to learn that her audition tape had earned her a spot to compete at Rising Star. She is pushing hard now and has increased her normal practise schedule to prepare for that performance.
While she has taken part in other competitions Bianca says she feels the best part of getting to sing at Rising Star is “having this experience and being able to perform with a larger audience in front of me.”
Bianca says win or lose she feels the experience will help her “take this to the next step and start performing a bit more and singing in other places”.
We wish Bianca the best of luck! Go Bianca!
