Call from concerned motorist in Caledon results in impaired charges

An Orangeville motorist is facing charges after getting pulled over by police in Caledon.

Caledon OPP says police were called by a motorist Saturday, Feb. 24 just after 1 a.m. who was concerned about how another person was driving. Officers found the suspect vehicle on Highway 9, near The Gore Road, and arrested the driver.

Police allege the driver had a blood-alcohol concentration level three times the legal limit. A 58-year-old will appear in court at a later date to answer to two impaired charges.

“Caledon OPP would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture,” police said in a news release.

If you suspect someone is driving impaired, call 911, police ask.
