Charges laid after vehicle strikes officer

Provincial Police in Caledon have several criminal charges following an incident where an officer was struck on Highway 410 in Brampton.

On Thursday at 1:30 p.m., an officer from Caledon was southbound on the highway when he observed a motor vehicle driving dangerously. The officer stopped the vehicle just north of Steeles Avenue and was attempting to make an arrest when the vehicle took off. The officer was struck and knocked down into a live lane of traffic. Luckily, they received only minor injuries.

The Community Street Crime Unit was called in to investigate and the suspect driver was located and arrested in Toronto that evening. A 40-year-old male has been charged with dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, flight from police, stunt driving, and possession for the purpose of distribution. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
