Making it Convenient in Caledon East

Growing up in rural Nova Scotia I have fond memories of trips to the local general store. Although a tiny spot by today’s standards to be able to make a visit to the store was a big deal.

General stores were definitely part of the fabric of the community and they, without a doubt, filled a need.

And in small towns here in Caledon, like Caledon East, they still do. New on the scene this year is a gem of a general store opened by Jassie Sharma.

Her business in the city had been focussed on toy sales.  Pressures to care for her children and parents during Covid had culminated in a decision to close the store and move to a smaller community. To Jassie a general store was a missing piece on the local scene. One that she was confident she could fill, and very competently.

Jassie’s husband Tony, who is in commercial real estate sales, helps from time to time in the store as well. As parents of 6 children the couple is busy to put it mildly.

In the store you will find groceries, candy, snacks, fresh coffee, ice cream, stationary items, household goods, hardware, games, Halloween and party costumes, lottery tickets, and more.  Of yes! and did we mention Scoops, The Gelato Shop?

If you need to source something quickly, conveniently, and locally, Jassie invites you to visit Caledon East General Store at 16078 Airport Road, at the corner of Walker Road, on Monday to Saturday between 7:00am and 11:00pm and on Sunday between 8:00am and 11:00pm.

If you prefer to call ahead to check on availability of an item you can reach the store at 647-705-1246
