Father up first
most mornings
a door tap at 7:15
my wake-up call
Regimented routine
One bathroom
Three kids
taking turns
Standard issue breakfast – cereal
Approved clothes
Assembled school stuff
Timed departures
Mostly well-oiled motions
Though knowing mother could throw
a wrench into the works
at any moment
