After being sidelined for three years because of COVID, the Inglewood Schoolhouse Performers returns to the stage this month with its out-of-this-world production of Robert Scott’s Above and Beyond.

Directed by Kathie Maloney, the two-act science fiction farce details the travails of alien hotel owners Mortimer and Philomena whose establishment on earth masquerades as a small bookstore.

But they and their young daughter Alexus risk being uncovered and arrested by two FBI-style secret agents. Compounding their travails is a complaining guest, an obnoxious television reality host, the unexpected visit of Mortimer’s cousin Alf, who is sure to blow their cover, and the ominous visit of the dreaded Galactic Office Bureau.
