Credit Valley Conservation Foundation (CVCF) hosted its 16th Annual Conservation Gala, presented by Argo Development Corp on Thursday, November 17 at Lionhead Golf and Conference Centre in Brampton. This gala brought together more than 250 guests who raised approximately $260,000 in support of local environmental initiatives. Sponsorship from community businesses raised a significant portion of these funds.

The Conservation Gala fundraiser supports CVCF’s mission to invest in projects that protect and enhance our local natural environment for present and future generations. Proceeds from this year’s gala support CVCF’s current fundraising priority to build the Crane Gathering Space, the first Indigenous placemaking site along the Credit Valley Trail.
“We’re beyond grateful for the support received at our 16th Annual Conservation Gala,” said Karen Ras, CVCF Board Chair. “Thanks to the generosity of our guests, partners and sponsors, we’re one step closer to bringing Indigenous placemaking to life along the Credit Valley Trail. The Crane Gathering Space will help advance the goals of truth and reconciliation as we work to ensure the identity, presence, contributions and voice of Indigenous Peoples are reflected in the Credit River Watershed.”
The Credit Valley Trail is a visionary 100-kilometre pathway through the Credit River Valley – from the headwaters in Orangeville to Lake Ontario in Port Credit. The Crane Gathering Space is the first of seven Indigenous placemaking sites planned along the trail route.
“We’re proud to partner with Credit Valley Conservation Foundation for this event in support of local environmental initiatives,” said Brian Sutherland, V.P., Argo Development Corp. “Connecting communities through nature and investing in projects that enhance the local environment is something we’re very committed to. This was a special night and we’re thankful to have an opportunity to be a part of it.”

The event featured a cocktail reception with live music and birds of prey display, dinner, silent and live auctions and a special Fund-a-Need Auction hosted by event Master of Ceremonies, Anwar Knight.
The gala also received generous sponsorship support from Lakeview Community Partners Limited, Canon Canada, Urbantech Consulting, NAK Design Strategies, 407 ETR, R&M Construction, Paradise Development, Cedar City Developments, Fieldgate Developments, RJ Burnside, Imperial Esso Mobil and City Park Homes.
Since 2006, the Conservation Gala has raised over $3.01 million in support of CVC projects and initiatives that enhance the local environment for present and future generations. Each year elected officials, corporate leaders, individual donors and municipal representatives attend the Conservation Gala.
