The Town of Caledon Fire and Emergency Services department is growing its team by launching a recruitment drive to hire more volunteer firefighters.
These volunteer firefighters will respond to both emergencies and non-emergencies, including fires; medical emergencies; vehicle collisions and more.
Interested applicants must be 18 years of age and up, have a valid G driver’s licence, and live within 8 km of a Caledon Fire Station. They must also attend one of these upcoming mandatory information sessions to be eligible to apply:
- Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 7 p.m. at Southfields Community Centre – 225 Dougall Avenue.
- Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Albion Bolton Community Centre – 150 Queen Street South.
- Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 7 p.m. at Station 303 – 6085 Old Church Road.
For more details and to register for an information session, please visit Caledon.ca/Fire-Recruitment.
“Volunteer firefighters are everyday residents of the Town of Caledon with full time careers and professions who offer to help their community,” said Fire Chief Dave Forfar. “These paid on-call positions are compensated financially for their time when responding to calls, and in return they receive valuable medical training, fire ground training, emergency management experience and life skills. You will also gain an extended family with Caledon Fire and Emergency Services. We are excited to welcome new community-minded recruits to our team and look forward to working with the successful applicants.”
The application period opens on Wednesday, October 12, after the last information session finishes, and those eligible to apply have until Monday, October 31 to submit their applications.
