>MPP Sylvia Jones announced today that the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport is providing Caledon Seniors Centre with $198,000 in funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation‘s (OTF) Capital grant stream. This funding will help to make crucial improvements to the facility, both indoors and outdoors.

“Since 1995, the Caledon Seniors Centre has provided programs and services for seniors in our community,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon. “Our government’s investment for a state-of-the-art audio/visual system in the new multipurpose rooms, and the addition of the outdoor canopy and furnishings expanding the programable space, means more seniors will benefit from the excellent programs offered by CSC.”

A $148,000 Capital grant was awarded in November 2022 funded the purchase and installation of a high-performance audio/visual/lighting system to create an age-friendly space for active living, lifelong learning and engagement for the Centre’s Seniors.

A second Capital grant of $50,600 Capital grant was awarded in September 2023 to fund the installation of a canopy to cover their multi-purpose patio space to make it a safer and more comfortable space for seniors to participate in outdoor programming.

“The funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation grants provides the seniors centre with a high-performance audio/visual and lighting system, ensuring a more enjoyable, energizing and cognitive experience when participating in small groups or large gatherings, members will have greater interactive opportunities without a doubt. The new outdoor program space enhancement with the new canopy, outdoor furniture and program equipment will increase our programable space and shield the seniors from the sunlight and inclement weather said Beverley Nurden, Manager of the Caledon Seniors Centre. “These grants have allowed the purchase of needed technical and physical equipment that will optimize participatory opportunities for many seniors. We also want to congratulate the Ontario Trillium Foundation on 41 years of granting and building healthy and vibrant communities across the province.”
