Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a fatal collision on Heart Lake Road.
On December 19, 2023, just before 8:00 a.m., Caledon OPP and emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on Heart Lake Road, near Mayfield Road. The incident was between a school bus and a passenger vehicle. The bus had one student on board. Both the student and the driver are uninjured. The passenger vehicle had five occupants. One was pronounced deceased at the scene and the remaining four were transported to hospital, one of which with serious injuries and later pronounced as deceased. The identities of the victims are not yet available.
Heart Lake Road between Old School Road and Mayfield Road will be closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists is assisting with the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Caledon OPP at 905-584-2241 or 1-888-310-1122.
