TRCA invites youth in the Toronto Region to get engaged with the environment and their communities

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority’s (TRCA) Youth Council is a great opportunity for young people who care about the environment in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to make a positive difference in their communities and to gain professional experience.

TRCA logoYoung people have a significant stake in the long-term health of the environment. TRCA’s Youth Council is a unique chance for GTA youth to discuss environmental issues while having access to resources that can help turn their ideas into action. It is also a great opportunity for youth interested in a career in the environmental field to get hands-on experience.

To be eligible to join the Council, members must be between the ages of 16-30 and currently reside or attend school in TRCA’s jurisdiction (which includes Caledon). Apply to join the TRCA Youth Council Executive or join as a General member to learn about all the great activities held by the Council.

Joining the Youth Council Executive means setting yearly goals and organizing initiatives for other youth. New initiatives could include planning environmental youth events, providing feedback on existing TRCA programs and priorities, getting involved in TRCA projects, and running campaigns to raise awareness about the environmental issues faced by the GTA.

The Council will also give GTA youth the opportunity to:

·        Make new friends who share similar interests and passions.

·        Develop leadership skills.

·        Expand professional networks.

·        Get experience in the environmental sector.

·        Make a positive difference in their communities.

TRCA Youth Council is a chance to build healthier communities by connecting people to greenspaces and nature. To apply or to learn more, visit TRCA Youth Council.
