Other Motorists Doing Their Part to Keep Our Roads Safe from Impaired Drivers

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Caledon Detachment are appreciative of civilian motorist who called in erratic vehicle resulting in impaired driving charges.

On December 13, 2021 at approximately 11:05 p.m. officers were dispatched to Highway 410 north of Mayfield Road in the Town of Caledon. A motorist observed another vehicle driving in an erratic manner and out of concern contacted police.

The vehicle was intercepted and stopped by officers from the OPP Caledon Detachment RIDE Unit. The driver was arrested at the scene.

Kateryna CORREIA, 37 years old, from Toronto, has been charged with the offences of:

·        Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle

·        Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood

The accused is scheduled to appear in Orangeville Provincial Court in February, 2022.

This is another great example of the public / police partnership that is working to keep our roads safe. The Caledon OPP would like to thank those motorists who call in to report possible impaired drivers and shares their commitment to community safety.

The OPP Caledon Detachment would like to encourage motorists to report potential impaired drivers. Motorists can call 911, or *OPP (*677) on their mobile device and be put in contact with an emergency dispatcher. Using a mobile device to report a potential impaired driver will not result in a charge for using a hand-held communication device.
