With winter weather knocking on the door the Town of Caledon wants to let motorists know about parking restrictions.
The winter rules are in effect from Nov. 1 until April 30. During this time, no street parking is permitted when winter operations, such as salting or plowing, occur.
“Winter operations include snow plowing, sanding as well as salting before and after a winter storm,” said Brian Baird, Director of Operations in a release. “To complete these operations effectively and in a timely manner, vehicles must be removed from the road, and any vehicles parking over a sidewalk must be removed as well.”
He added residents are encouraged to help town employees do their jobs by clearing roadways and sidewalks during winter.
Parking on the street or blocking a sidewalk during winter operations can result in a $90 ticket, and having the vehicle towed at the owner’s expense.
“As we enter the winter season, we’re asking residents to help us keep roads safe and clear by observing the winter parking restrictions,” said Jagdeep (Jack) Hunjan, Director of Municipal Law Enforcement.
“Bylaw officers will monitor winter parking closely over the coming months to help ensure efficient snow removal and safe conditions for everyone.”
