A celebration of music is coming back to Caledon.
Between Aug. 4 and Aug. 18, the Caledon Music Festival will be held. Concerts take place at a number of different locations across town.
Festival organizer Terry Lim said most performers are Canadians the festival will focus on classical music.
“During the pandemic, we tried a little bit of jazz for online concerts but this time around it is mostly classical.”
“Tasting Notes”, a signature event that pairs drinks, beautiful views, and jazz-influenced classical music, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on August 7 at Davis Family Farm.
“This is our first time collaborating with the farm. We always wanted to do some outdoor concerts so I reached out to them and they said they would be happy to have us. The music will be classic and jazz-inspired works and some will have a Latin style.” said Lim.
Lim took over the reins five years ago and said it has grown from five or six people attending some events.
“It’s been steadily growing. I talk to audience members and they are coming from all over to attend our festival.”
Lim said each concert held as part of this year’s Caledon Music Festival will have its own unique impact on residents’ ears, hearts and minds.
The first show of this year’s festival will be held at 2 p.m. on August 4 at the Alton Mill Arts Centre. Titled “Friends of Chamber Music”, the show will feature everything from operatic arias to electronic music.
“It’s going to be an incredible afternoon of chamber music-making,” said Lim.
At 7:30 p.m. on August 14, there will be a “Cello Recital” at Caledon East United Church. This will be no normal recital because performing will be cello virtuoso Daniel Hamin Go and pianist Ben Smith.
The grand finale of this year’s Caledon Music Festival will be held at 2 p.m. on August 18 at the Alton Mill Arts Centre. It will be a concert called “Passions and Storms” and bring together the combined musical talents of all who will be performing as part of this year’s Caledon Music Festival.
