Three men face firearms charges after traffic stop

Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police seized a loaded handgun from a vehicle.

On June 21, shortly after 11:30 p.m., police conducted a RIDE spot check on Innis Lake Road and Healey Road. A vehicle entered the area and a preliminary investigation resulted in a search. Police say a loaded handgun was found and all three occupants were placed under arrest.

A 24-year-old from Brampton faces six charges including careless storage of a firearm, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available, and possession of heroin.

A 25-year-old from Brampton and a 23-year-old from Caledon also face five charges including knowledge of an unauthorized possession of a firearm, breach of firearms regulations and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.

All three accused were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
