World Class Paddlers Enjoyed C3 James Dick Quarry for Season Paddling Opener

C3 and James Dick Family have been working tirelessly over the last five weeks to continue to improve the entire beach footprint on the unique Beach-Quarry. Last weekend Olympic athletes were on the James Dick Beach teaching paddling lessons (on Friday evening) and on Saturday leading the season opener on what was called “GLORY ON THE QUARRY”.

The Ontario Stand up Paddle Board Association held their prestigious season opener in Caledon for the first time ever and were suitably impressed. “What Barrie and the C3 team have created at the James Dick Quarry is truly unique and made our racing incredible” said race director Glen Buchanan. “We have racing in Lake Ontario – Lake Huron – Lake SImcoe and Georgian Bay and some of our racers found this to be the best venue they have ever raced in” said Buchanan.

Friday night saw Olympic Gold Medal Paddler Larry Cain (1984 LA Gold medalist) and Sydney Olympic Gold Medalist (Simon Whitfield 2000) both on the C3 beach teaching classes to novices. Saturday, Whitfield joined 3x Olympian Tamas Buday to race in the pro 10km event. The races were divided into PRO (10km), Open (7km), Novice 3.5km and youth (500m). The C3 James Dick Quarry looked fantastic as the back drop for the initial season opener. Three C3 athletes came away with hardware (Miguel Vadillo winner and Carm Mora silver in the novice rookie race) and Doris Neculiou (bronze in the open category).

C3 and their partners (James Dick, Nuvo Iron, Benson Steel, Royal Containers, Kinetico and RA Tech) have worked tirelessly over the last few years to create a world class unique location for swimming, paddling and beach volleyball.
