Caledon Fire and Emergency Services welcomes five new fire vehicles, with approximately three more expected in early 2022.
“With the support of Council, the addition of new fire vehicles will help us achieve full compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard,” said Chief Darryl Bailey. “Also, these new vehicles will increase safety for our residents, while keeping our response time down.”
Some of the benefits of these new modernized vehicles include:
- increased resident safety: carrying more water in vehicles allows crews to fight fires faster;
- reduced health risks for firefighters due to enhanced safety measures;
- fewer emissions than traditional fire trucks;
- reduced fire vehicle maintenance costs;
- less out of service time due to repairs.
“As we welcome more residents into Caledon, community safety continues to be a priority,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “These new fire vehicles will further modernize our fleet of fire trucks and that ultimately means increased safety for residents and firefighters.”
The investment in new fire vehicles directly supports Caledon Fire and Emergency Services goal: to provide effective, efficient, safe, professional and prompt fire protection services to the public. Â With the dedication of both full-time and volunteer firefighters, Caledon Fire and Emergency Services prides itself on protecting life, property and the environment.
