Local man faces multiple charges

A Caledon resident faces a long list of charges in connection with a home invasion in the town.

Police were called to a home on Ann McKee Street in Caledon East just after 5 a.m. yesterday with the report of a crime in progress.

Video surveillance showed a black Jeep Wrangler leaving the scene which was located later in the day. The Caledon Community Street Crime, Major Crime and OPP Central Region Canine Units executed a search warrant for the suspect’s vehicle and residence. A handgun, ammunition and a stolen Porsche were seized.

A 26-year-old man faces a long list of charges including break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, criminal harassment and being in a home unlawfully. Other charges include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and tampering with the serial number on a firearm. He also faces one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused is held in custody as he awaits a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.
