Police investigating alleged assault of a town bylaw official

Caledon Provincial Police are investigating an assault on a municipal law enforcement officer.

On Nov. 24 just after 2 a.m., police say they responded to an assault on Fallview Circle in Southfields Village. A municipal law enforcement officer was assaulted by a group of individuals while performing their duties. The officer was transported to hospital and the injuries were later deemed to be minor.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Major Crime Unit. Anyone with information, including dashcam or surveillance video, is urged to contact police or Peel Crime Stoppers.

“Officer health and safety is our top priority. No one should face the risk of violence when they go to work,” said Town of Caledon Mayor Annette Groves in a police news release. “Please come forward if you have any information that helps the OPP advance its investigation and charge those responsible.”
