Community members of Caledon task force announced

The newly appointed Illegal Land Use Task Force (ILUTF) held its inaugural meeting this week, announcing eight community representatives.

Rebecca Carvalho, Manager of Strategic Initiatives and Chair of the ILUTF introduced the members and highlighted the range of skills and experience each will bring to the committee.

The appointed members are Stacey Beatty, Przemyslaw Bialasz, Alan Boughton, James Cockburn, John Di Girolamo, Vince Donatelli, Andre Leitert and Derek Page. Appointed councillors are Doug Maskell of Ward 3 and Tony Rosa from Ward 5.

“With a strategic workplan and a strong team, we are confident in the task force’s ability to drive meaningful progress to help address illegal land use in Caledon,” said Rebecca Carvalho. “Through collaborative efforts with municipal staff, subject matter experts and community stakeholders, the task force will prioritize our community’s well-being and advocate for policy changes to protect public safety and the environment.”

The task force is currently laying out its priority objectives and a detailed workplan for the next twelve months. Priorities will include advocacy, enhancements to Town by-laws, enforcement tactics and community communication initiatives. The next update to council is scheduled to be released in January.

Updates and outcomes from the town and task force’s efforts will be shared as they become available. For information, visit www.caledon.ca/illegallanduse.
