OPP continues to search for Sonia Varaschin’s killer 14 years after her murder

The search for Sandra Varaschin’s killer continues 14 years after the 42-year-old healthcare professional’s murder.

The Ontario Provincial Police is again urging the public to come forward with any information related to this case, no matter how minor it may seem.

On Aug. 30, 2010, the former Orangeville Police Service (OPS) began an investigation after Varaschin’s white Toyota Corolla was found abandoned behind a business on Broadway in downtown Orangeville.

On Sept. 5, 2010, Varaschin’s remains were found in a wooded area just off Beech Grove Sideroad in Caledon by a pedestrian. The search for Sandra Varaschin’s killer continues after 14 years.

Investigators believe someone has the missing piece of information that will help identify the person or people responsible for her murder and bring resolution to her family.

“The OPP will never close an unsolved homicide,” a news release said.

The OPP’s historical and unsolved cases video series on the investigation into her murder can be viewed on YouTube.

A $50,000 reward continues to be offered for the information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Varaschin’s murder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
