Caledon OPP looking for the public’s help following a shooting

Police in Caledon are asking for video footage and assistance from the public to identify an individual related to a shooting incident in the town.

On Aug. 11, just before midnight, officers were called to a large house party, known as “Shark Tank,” at a residence on Castlederg Sideroad. One person was located injured and transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim remains at the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to public safety.

Police are searching for a male described as tall and thin with dark skin. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, a red fitted hat with white writing, a white t-shirt, black shorts, white socks that went halfway up his shins, and white shoes.

Videos that can assist this investigation, including but not limited to dash cam, cell phone, and social media captured at the scene between 11 p.m. on Aug. 11 to 2 a.m. on Aug. 12, can be uploaded using a QR code.

The Caledon OPP Major Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services, Caledon OPP Community Street Crime Unit, OPP Central Region Canine Unit, and OPP Emergency Response Team.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Caledon OPP at 1-888-310-1122. You can also provide information anonymously by contacting Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or peelcrimestoppers.ca.
