Weather warning issued for Peel

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Caledon, Mississauga and Brampton, calling for heavy rain in slow-moving thunderstorms today.

Hazards for Peel residents include torrential downpours, and rainfall amounts of 30 to 60 millimetres into this evening,

“Slow-moving thunderstorms could produce locally heavy rainfall today. Rainfall warnings may be issued,” the national weather agency said in its statement.

For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office or visit www.Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details, Environment Canada said.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” the warning states. “Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.”
