Peel Region and Peel Regional Police raise nearly $290,000 for United Way

Today, Peel announced that employees of Peel Region and Peel Regional Police Service raised almost $290,000 in support of United Way Greater Toronto in their 2022 campaigns. For the 20th year, staff exceeded the campaign fundraising goal, this year by almost $70,000, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to supporting Peel’s communities.

A cheque for $288,270 was presented to Daniele Zanotti, President and CEO of United Way Greater Toronto, at Peel Regional Council today. Presenting the cheque on behalf of Peel employees was Regional Chair Nando Iannicca.

These funds support United Way in delivering services that meet the urgent needs of Peel residents who have been starkly affected by economic downturns, unaffordability and the inequities that divide our community.

Peel is one of United Way’s longest-standing partners with more than 40 years of continual fundraising history.

I’m always impressed by the generous spirit and passion shown by Peel’s employees year after year. Thanks to the tremendous efforts of everyone who participated in the United Way Employee Campaign. Together we are helping to make our community more accessible to those facing inequality and poverty at a time when it’s needed most.”

– Nando Iannicca, Peel Regional Chair

On February 26, Peel was recognized as a United Way Greater Toronto 2023 Local Leader for contributions made in 2022. Through these donations, Peel employees help mend the gaps in our social safety net and unite under a worthy cause.

The 2022 United Way Employee Campaign was led by Campaign Chair, Jacqueline Dixon, and a Campaign Committee comprised of dedicated employees from across the organization.

United Way Greater Toronto supports 81 agencies that deliver more than 100 programs to communities across Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga. Last year, over 300,000 Peel residents received a helping hand from United Way Greater Toronto.
