Caledon Community Services (CCS) is encouraging Caledon residents to once again team up, fundraise, and walk in The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY). This family-friendly, winterrific fundraising walk takes place on the evening of February 25, 2023, and supports people experiencing hunger, hurt, and precarious housing in Caledon.
Tens of thousands of Canadians will take to the streets for CNOY with events taking place in 150 cities, towns, and communities across the country. By walking together in the chill of the night, we will share the experience of being on the streets during a cold Canadian winter, while raising funds to help Caledon neighbours in need. Each step we take brings someone closer to safety, health and home, as together, we raise funds to transform peoples’ lives.
The Caledon walk begins and ends at Caledon East Community Complex (6 Old Church Rd, Caledon East). Participants will walk a 2km or 5km route and can warm up with toasty drinks at rest stops along the way and will be able to celebrate their efforts together at the finish line. All those who raise over $150 (or $75 for youth) will also don the CNOY iconic toques as they face the cold night.
“This is Caledon Community Services 4th year taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year, and we’re aiming to raise $100,000 for neighbours experiencing hunger, hurt, and homelessness in Caledon. In 2022, 194 walkers from 37 teams took part in Caledon CNOY virtual event. ” We look forward to welcoming
even more Caledon friends, neighbours and supporters to join us at the in-person walkathon on February 25, 2023!” – said Monty Laskin, CEO, Caledon Community Services. “As inflation pushes more and more families to the brink, we rely on our compassionate community to come together once again and leave no one behind”
Caledon Community Services has been serving Caledon residents in need for more than fifty years, and the funds raised in the Coldest Night of the Year will provide Caledon families, youth and seniors with much needed food support, utility subsidies and a path to health and independence.
