The Stafford Group Match Our Meals A Success

Once again our Bolton Tim Hortons restaurants operated by The Stafford Group, challenged the community to raise $7,500. The challenge was launched on December 1st, Tim Hortons guests, community members, businesses and community groups were inspired to make donations to Caledon Meals on Wheels. Our local community support was amazing! By the end of December close to $32,000 was raised through community support, but that is not where the surprises end. As a result of the community’s generous outpouring, Tim Hortons increased their matching donation from $7500 to $10,000 making the total funds raised to over $42,000.

“We started Match Our Meals in 2016 because we wanted to support good nutrition for seniors” stated Brad Stafford, owner of the Bolton Tim Hortons. “Unfortunately, there are many people with low incomes in our community who need the food, and Match Our Meals was our way of supporting seniors with financial challenges. Our Match Our Meals Initiative each December hopes to inspire our community to donate to help seniors and people with disabilities get the programs and services they need.”

The Caledon Meals on Wheels financial aid specifically assists low-income seniors or individuals with a disability who are facing financial challenges, to get hot or frozen meals delivered to their door. In 2021/2022, with the community’s support, CMOW delivered over 29,000 affordable meals to 292 seniors, and then provided over $30,000 in additional meal subsidies to those in financial need. With the generosity of our donors, we were able to keep meals affordable, provide additional subsidies, and keep CMOW’s other programs, free, viable and available to members of Caledon, Orangeville and the surrounding communities.

“We are so grateful to The Stafford Group who own the Bolton Tim Hortons! They launched Match our Meals with a $7500 challenge, and once again increased their match level to $10,000 in response to the community’s generosity.” states Christine Sevigny, Caledon Meals on Wheels Executive Director. “Thanks to the collective support of our friends and donors, we continue to be able to offer the range and reach of programs and services across the community. Caledon Meals on Wheels believes that everyone regardless of age, or income level, should have access to nutritious food, social connections and activities for the mind and body to encourage healthy aging, and support living independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
