Four Treasures of the Sky

When she is kidnapped and smuggled across an ocean from China to America, Daiyu must relinquish the home and future she imagined for herself. Over the years that follow, she is forced to keep reinventing herself to survive. As anti-Chinese sentiment sweeps across the country in a wave of unimaginable violence, Daiyu must draw on each of the selves she has been, including the ones she most wants to leave behind, in order to finally claim her own name and story. Steeped in untold history and Chinese folklore, this novel is spellbinding and riveting.

Killers of a Certain Age

A bit “Jason Bourne”, a bit Helen Mirren in the movie “Red”, Killers of a Certain Age proves that life doesn’t stop after 60.  Unless of course the extra-secret government organization you have been working for decides to “retire” you.  Four elite female assassins planning to enjoy their golden years discover that they have been targeted by the very organization for which they worked for 40 years, taking down Nazis, dictators, smugglers and sex traffickers.  These four women must very quickly discover why they have been targeted, as well as save themselves before they get taken out.  Fast-paced with lots of action and a fair amount of killing, Killers of a Certain Age is also a rollicking celebration of strong, intelligent women and close friendships.

Namwayut, We Are All One

Reconciliation belongs to all of us. In this book, drawing from the lessons that he has learned along his pathway from residential school to the leader of Reconciliation Canada, Chief Robert Joseph provides a map for collective change and transformation. Chief Robert Joseph is a Hereditary Chief of the Gwawaenuk First Nation and lives in the Queen Charlotte Strait region of BC.

Solito

A young poet reflects on his 3,000-mile journey from El Salvador to the United States when he was nine years old, during which he was faced with perilous boat trips, relentless desert treks, pointed guns, arrests and deceptions during two life-altering months alongside a group of strangers who became an unexpected family. A memoir as gripping as it is moving, Solito provides an immediate and intimate account not only of a treacherous and near-impossible journey, but also of the miraculous kindness and love delivered at the most unexpected moments.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

Spanning thirty years, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Venice Beach, California, and lands in between and far beyond, this is a dazzling and intricately imagined novel that examines the multifarious nature of identity, disability, failure, the redemptive possibilities in play, and above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love. Yes, it is a love story, but it is not one you have read before.
