There’s scary things that go bump in the night and there’s scary things that elicit smiles all day. The Bolton Rotary Haunted Hill Run would definitely be one of the latter.

After a two-year hiatus over Covid concerns this long-time family favourite was back again on a suitably foggy morning on October 30th. The popular community walk and fun run fundraiser brought out over a hundred adults and children to the Caledon Centre for Wellness and Recreation and the Murray Stewart Trail.

Rather than photographing the mass start, I thought it would be interesting to interview the last team to clear the parking lot at the end of the event.

I present to you the Miceli family, Aaron and Lisa, who costumed as Squid Game characters, their son Van in his Minecraft “Creeper” disguise, and my good friend Keri Leslie, who escaped from prison so that she could go on the fun walk with her grandson Van.

Aaron and Lisa completed the 5km event and described it with an enthusiastic “We loved it!”

Van and Keri did the 1km fun walk, and Van told me “It was special because I got to walk with my Ama.”

When asked what she thought of the foggy morning walk with her grandson Grandma “Ama” Keri summed it all up in one word, “Fabulous!”

The Bolton Rotary Haunted Hill Run is great seasonal event that encourages family fun and exercise while giving back to the community. It’s normally held on the last Sunday in October so mark the date on your 2023 calendars today!!
