PATRICIA LOPEZ was a 50 year old local Caledon woman who had just finished an Ironman triathlon and was so happy and excited to be a new grandmother.
In August 2020 Lopez was hit, by a truck that went through a red light at Hwy 10 and Old Baseline, and killed. Her death has left a big hole for her husband Luis, daughter Julianna, and her entire local C3 team mates.
The C3 Canadian Cross Training Club created a bursary last year in her name, to be given to a female athlete who needs some help.
“Patricia loved being physical and sport was an important part of her free time” said her coach Barrie Shepley. The 2021 bursary helped a local 40 year old mother of three who is trying to raise her children on her own.
The 2022 event is scheduled for Saturday Sept 10th. People have 4 options:
- Join in the social group ride at 1pm.
- Join in the fun Stand up Paddle Board event at the C3 James Dick Beach at 1pm.
- Join in the fun volleyball afternoon at the C3 beach.
- Or simply make a donation.
All events will culminate with a BBQ on the beach and some draw prizes. If you are interested, please register at https://c3online.ca/patricia-lopez-memorial or for more information email [email protected] or call 647-400-3845
