Yard Waste Collection Helps With Storm Cleanup

Peel’s waste services, such as yard waste collection, can be used to support residents with storm cleanup of their property. When prepared as yard waste, storm debris can be collected at the curb.

Acceptable yard waste items include leaves, brush and fallen tree branches (cut up to size using guidelines below).

Unlimited amounts of acceptable yard waste will be collected. Place yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on your yard waste collection day – check your collection calendar.

Place yard waste at the curb in kraft yard waste bags (plastic bags not accepted) or containers that are clearly labelled “yard waste.” Follow the weight and size limits of yard waste containers and bags.

Prepare fallen branches and brush for curbside collection:

  • Branch size must be less than 10 cm (4 in) in diameter.
  • Tie in bundles up to 1.2 m (4 ft) long and 76 cm (30 in) wide.
  • Each bundle must weigh less than 20 kg (44 lb).

Oversized branches not collected at the curb:

  • Storm debris more than 10 cm (4 in) in diameter or more than 4 feet in length, such as tree trunks or logs can be dropped off at Community Recycling Centres during operating hours.
  • Disposal fees may apply.

Due to the significant impact of the storm across Peel Region, there may be delays in yard waste collection. Please leave material at the curb until it’s collected.

Use the Waste Sorter to find out how to dispose of other storm debris not collected as yard waste.

For storm cleanup of city-owned trees or infrastructure, please call 3-1-1.
