Every day, 8,600 paramedics provide expert care in their communities across Ontario. They are supported by dispatch communication staff, logistics, procurement and fleet teams, and special teams such as tactical, technical rescue, marine and bicycle units. This Paramedic Services Week, the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs recognizes all the “Faces of Paramedicine” and encourages all Ontarians to do the same.
“Our Paramedic Services and their teams have stepped up day after day to respond to the pandemic, and provide care where needed – in homes and clinics, on the roadway, on trails, in waterways,” said OAPC President, Chief Peter F. Dundas. “We rely on so many to help us do what we do, and I’m proud to honour all of these brave women and men who work together to keep communities safe and healthy.”
This week, the OAPC and Paramedic Services across the province will put spotlights on staff and stories. We will raise awareness about all the dedicated professionals who contribute to emergency and out-of-hospital care, and show how paramedics work in different ways, with different specialties. Our members will hold events to share more about how paramedics serve, educate and innovate to put patients first
“We hope people across Ontario will join us where they are to share their own story, participate in an event, learn more about what we do, or even thank a paramedic.” Chief Dundas continued. “We’re all together in getting through the pandemic, and we hope this week will be an opportunity to celebrate each other.”
