Today, the Region of Peel is releasing its key election priorities, highlighting how Ontario’s next government can contribute to the ongoing success of Peel by supporting its thriving communities and businesses.
Peel remains a destination of choice for those looking to raise a family or start a business. However, Peel is facing a number of challenges that will require ongoing collaboration between the Region and the provincial government. Some of these challenges include the escalating affordable housing crisis as well as the growing need for healthcare and mental health and addiction services.
The June 2 provincial election gives Peel residents a voice to share the issues that matter to them most with the candidates and the political parties they represent.
The Region has compiled the following 10 key policy priorities and recommendations for provincial political parties and their local candidates to consider and advance to meet the needs of the Peel community:
- Fair share for municipalities
- Support new hospital development
- Focus on affordable housing solutions
- Enhance the transportation network
- Safeguard quality of life for seniors
- Prioritize investment in mental health and addiction services
- Continue support for pandemic response
- Support essential services for Peel residents and businesses
- Stimulate economy through infrastructure funding
- Collaborate to build a strong, stable child care sector
The Region looks forward to working with the next provincial government on these and the many other issues critical to Peel residents and business owners. For more details about the Region’s 2022 provincial election priorities and the Region’s ongoing advocacy work, visit peelregion.ca/advocacy
