The new Caledon Reduces group starts off their work with a great event in Bolton on April 30th, 2022, in the rooms of the Caledon Senior Centre (7 Rotarian Way, Bolton).  Initially planned as a Repair Café, the event now also features a secondhand fashion show and film screening “The Story of Plastic”. Everybody is invited to join!

A Repair Café is a space where you can bring broken items and repair them yourself under the guidance of volunteers. Repair Cafés promote the philosophy of fixing and reusing items instead of throwing them away. Depending on the nature of the required repair, skilled volunteers may offer to repair an item for you. Volunteers will be available to help you with broken items from 12:30 to 3:30 pm on April 30th. For more information about the Repair Café, please click here.

The “FASHION” Industry is hazardous to the Planet, accounting for 8% of global climate change – Harriet Dyer (Every Day is Earth Day). At 2pm on April 30th, our ReRun fashion show will show all of our guests (especially youth) that it is possible to dress-to-impress with secondhand pieces of clothing.

At 4 pm we’ll begin our first ever movie screening of The Story of Stuff’s Emmy- Award-winning feature length film “The Story of Plastic.” This 2019 documentary spells out the myths and facts that surround the trillion dollar industry of manufacturing & marketing plastics. Stay for the popcorn and a follow-up discussion on where we want Caledon to go next.
