Sleeping Occupants Arrested in Stolen Vehicle

Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two persons found sleeping in a stolen vehicle in the Town of Caledon.

On Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 8:49 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle stopped in a live lane near the intersection of Mayfield Road and Highway 10. The occupants of the vehicle were sleeping.

Officers learned that the motor vehicle had been reported as stolen from Peel Region. Officers surrounded the vehicle and awakened the occupants. When awoken, the driver attempted to flee the scene.

Two persons were taken into custody at the scene.

A 23 year old from Brampton has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments
  • Interfere with Traffic
  • Fail to Surrender License

A 23 year old from North York has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments

Both accused’s are scheduled to appear in Orangeville Provincial Court in April, 2022

The investigation is continuing into the theft of the vehicle.
